2020 WINTER WONDERLAND OVER JEFFERSON PARKSubmitted by Satinder P S Puri on Sat, 02/15/2020 - 01:56.
2020 WINTER WONDERLAND OVER JEFFERSON PARK IN CLEVELAND, OHIO
Snow started falling on the evening of Wednesday, February 12,
Definitely not a surprise now that we are in the midst of winter.
Well, what was a surprise – was what the combination of snow (2 to 3 inches) and freezing temperatures (around 30 deg. F) did as the snow fell on bare branches, pine shrubs, and tall pine Christmas trees.
The snow encapsulated the bare branches of the maple and sycamore trees.
And it stuck on to the tops of pine shrubs and the tall pine Christmas trees.
Creating a winter wonderland – truly a majestic site in what can be a very depressing part of the year.
The following photographs were taken on Thursday morning except as noted.
The lead photograph in the post was taken from the attic of our house.
All photographs are from the south side of Jefferson Park and include trees in the park, our house and our neighbor’s house and also trees along Cooley Avenue.
This second from last photograph was taken on Wednesday evening as the snow was falling. White snow blends well with our house with a white façade.
The last photograph of our house was taken, I believe, in February of 2014 – six years ago. A comparison shows – while the house is nearly the same – the surrounding trees have grown taller. I love trees – we have ten of them on our property which also includes a vacant lot on the right side. There is also a vacant lot on the left belonging to our neighbor. There are about sixty houses along the three sides of Jefferson Park. Our’s is the only one with a vacant lot on either side.
Enjoy the rest of the winter.
St. Patrick’s day is on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
Spring will (officially) arrive on Wednesday, March 20, 2020.
