EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio – Midwest BioFuels, LLC and American Merchandising Services announced today availability of B5 Biodiesel fuel at the Munson Mini Mart located in Munson Township, Ohio. Opening of the retail pump will be celebrated at the Munson Mini Mart on Saturday, August 6th from 1 pm to 3 pm.

Midwest Biofuels is a provider of bio-based fuels and chemicals, and advanced technical services to assure successful introduction of these products to commercial and private fleets in Northeast Ohio. American Merchandising Services, also in East Cleveland, is Midwest’s operating partner and a certified minority business enterprise.

Biodiesel is a clean burning fuel that is biodegradable, nontoxic, and sulfur free. B5 (5% pure biodiesel blended with 95% petroleum diesel) meets the ASTM D975 diesel fuel standard and can be used in all diesel engines. Small percentage blends of biodiesel significantly reduce greenhouse gas engine emissions. B5’s higher cetane rating and fuel lubricity improve combustion performance and reduce engine and fuel system wear. Biodiesel blends are available at more than 450 retail pumps in the U.S. and used by more than 500 government and commercial fleets.

Midwest BioFuels’ Herb Crowther and Phil Lane are marketing soy-based biodiesel but their larger objective is what they refer to as “the three Es�: Economic Development, Energy Independence and Environmental Responsibility. Mike King, AMS’s president points out “we’ve been very successful selling fuels and chemicals for nearly thirty years and are thrilled to now offer high growth, environmentally friendly products to existing and new customers. We have decades of commitment to East Cleveland and are excited about creating local jobs in bio-based product sales, distribution and production.

Midwest BioFuels has also teamed up with Dr. John Cragel, Director of the Alternative Energy Initiative at Hiram College for biodiesel quality assurance and testing. The Hiram, Ohio facility and it students study feedstock diversity and collaborate with industry to develop bio-based fuels, additives and lubricants.

The Munson Mini Mart at 11800 Mayfield Road (US Route 322) in Munson Township, Ohio 44024 is open 6 am to 10 pm Monday through Saturday, 7 to 10 Sunday.
