Single bladed propeller
Maple (all varieties) are amazing.
Single bladed propellers. Coasting on the wind to expand the drop zone.
I have a bunch in a bucket. I am waiting to set up a night shoot with spotlights...showing these seeds spinning their hearts out!
Silver Maples
There are a number of mature Silver Maples dropping huge numbers of seeds this year--when you think that these trees are normally found near water, the evolutionary strategy makes sense--with the samuras transported miles and miles away--to set up another generation, near water.
Silver Maples were planted to replace elms in urban areas, but they have a host of problems. I am looking forward to reading this book:
